Net Business Library - Cards Demonstration
Introduction
The NBL is a small set of classes based on Seaside. It is intended to support the development of intranet portals with cards (small windows) placed on an individual desktop for each user. This desktop has three columns, which can be changed in their width and design (e.g. changeable stylesheets and font sizes independant of the style). Also the cards can be moved.
Each card has, beside its title, four icons:
- A question mark for help.
- An O for options.
- A dot for minimizing and maximizing.
- An X for closing.
Each icon can be disabled. A click on the options will show a tabbed panel with pages for resizing the desktop columns or moving the card. Individual additional option pages can be easily added per card.
Cards are multilingual like the whole NBL.
Demonstration
Lets take a quick tour inside a NBL session.
The session starts here. The demo uses the Tideland Request Management System, which the user will see after he has pointed his browser to the system. By default, the three columns are divided into 20-60-20 percent of width.
Ooops, an error!
Hmm, our administrator has a typo in his password. Or did he forget it? That would be bad. ;)
But anyway, messages will be shown in the according card above the panel.
Resizing
Due to the small monitor (the images of the demo should be smaller than 800 pixel) our administrator used the options of the copyright card to set the column widths to 25%, 75% and 0%. He also opened the administration menu.
First actions
Now he minimized the copyright by clicking on the dot. He selected the response time monitoring from the menu and switched immediately to 20 displayed rows in his filtered list browser. After that he selected the monitoring, he clicked 'View' for the category CslGoodsDatabaseTico.
Both cards are placed on the - in our case very large - middle column at the bottom end. The monitor card is implemented as a tabbed panel.
Some reordering
Now our administrator has closed the copyright card and he has moved the monitor card to the top. Inside the response time monitoring he filtered the reading points for Goods.
More monitoring
Now he has decided to view status details of the selected CslGoodsDatabaseTico and he also removed the filter on the response time monitoring, switched back to 10 displayed rows and browsed to the end of the list of 21 entries.
Just playing
Our administrator seems to be bored. He resized the colums, moved the cards and selected the requirments entry in the requests menu.
